The Highlands is the largest and most diverse whisky-producing region in Scotland, covering much of the north. Whisky can vary from light to full-bodied and rich. Each whisky is shaped by its surroundings, with inland malts tasting of heather honey. Whiskies from the coastal West Highlands are a balance between smooth inland whiskies and peaty island whiskies. Whiskies from the coastal East Highlands have gentle peat, subtle sweetness and slight brininess.
