Tasted this as Day 3 of The Saratoga Whiskey Club Advent Calendar 2020. Every day is a new adventure with a blind tasting, where we each try to guess the country of origin, the type and age of the whisk(e)y, the ABV, and the distillery, followed by a reveal at 9PM. I was way off on my blind tasting guess - I thought it was a Single Malt Scotch from Campbeltown or Islay. It had a maritime peatiness. Boy, was I wrong! It's definitely a peated whisky, but not from a coastal region of Scotland. According to the distiller: This whisky is made from select Indian barley, grown at the foot of the Himalayas, nurtured by the waters flowing there and cultivated by traditional agricultural practices.
