  • Nose: Cloves and dried fruit. A bit hot.
  • Palate: Bitter and young. Chewy. Hints of plums and peaches.
  • Finish: Medium - the PX and Oloroso start out in the background, but then grow more pronounced as I sit back and contemplate this dram
  • Balance: Despite only 2 years of maturation, it has a surprisingly deep orange color. But, it's a little rough around the edges and needs more time in the cask.

I had planned to taste this Distillery Exclusive bottling as part of Saratoga Whiskey Club Tasting #40 - Coastal Scotland Tour. However, I missed the tasting on 11-September-2019; and I finally got to sample this in May 2020. Distilled in 2017 and bottled 08-July-2019. Matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez octaves. 160 total bottles in this batch. NOTE: This is NOT Scotch Whisky, because it has not matured for at least 3 years. But, that was the closest category. I look forward to tasting some whisky from Ardnamurchan that has been matured longer - there's definitely potential here. Photo courtesy of Charles Grabitzky.
