Tasted this delicious whisky at Saratoga Whiskey Club Tasting # 173 - Scotland A to Z, Part III. Ballechin was a distillery that operated from 1810 to 1927. Edradour has been bottling Ballechin since 2002 as their peated malt brand. This small-batch whisky was distilled in May 2004, matured in three separate first-fill Manzanilla Sherry Butts (casks 269, 274, 275), married together to make the release, and bottled on 4 July 2023. There were 1846 bottles. The malt used in this whisky was very-heavily-peated to a minimum of 50 ppm of phenols. NOTE: Manzanilla is a type of Fino Sherry (Sherry made from white grapes).
