Tasted as Day 7 of The Saratoga Whiskey Club Advent Calendar 2022. Every day is a new adventure with a blind tasting, where we each try to guess the country of origin, the type and age of the whisk(e)y, and the ABV, followed by a reveal at 9PM. Eifel began in 2008 in the Eifel region of Germany, northwest of Frankfurt, on the Belgian border. It was founded by husband and wife duo Stephen and Carolin. Stephen was a wine importer and distributor for over 30 years in Germany and wanted to make his own spirit. Only small amounts of their releases are allocated to the US market. This whisky was matured in refill red Bordeaux casks and then in 1st fill Cream Sherry casks. The 2021 release is a blend of whisky distilled in 2012 and 2013 (8 and 9 year old whisky).
