Tasted at Saratoga Whiskey Club Tasting # 124 - Found North Whisky. We tasted 8 glorious drams in this tasting, hosted in person by co-founder Nick Taylor. All Found North whiskies are bottled at cask strength without chill filtering or added color - yay! One of the things that makes Found North truly special is the total transparency about their whiskies. Found North is a blender and independent bottler. They get whisky from various distilleries in Canada. Due to NDAs with these distilleries, they are not able to disclose who distilled the spirit. This information is from their website: "Batch 001 is a 3-whisky blend that started with an herbaceous, feisty and deeply flavorful 16 year old rye aged in Hungarian oak. We blended in fruit-forward, 17 year old rye aged in ex-Speyside scotch casks. The combination revealed a smoldering symphony of spice. Last, we lengthened the finish and increased the viscosity by adding double-distilled corn whisky aged for 20 years in refill and level-2-char virgin oak." 1,327 bottle outturn.
