Tasted as Day 16 of the 2024 Saratoga Whiskey Club Advent Calendar. Every day is a new adventure with a blind tasting, where we each try to guess the country of origin, the type and age of the whisk(e)y, the ABV, and the type of barrel/cask used for maturation, followed by a reveal at 9PM. The style of this whisky is Pot Still (a combination of malted and unmalted barley from the family's Hioki distillery). Since Pot Still is a legally-defined type of whiskey unique to Ireland, depending upon where the malt and unmalted barley came from, this is either a blend or a single grain. Since multiple distilleries were involved I have elected to call this a blend. After distillation at the Hioki distillery, this whisky was matured at the Kanosuke Distillery. It was aged in both New Charred American Oak and Ex-Bourbon barrels.
