From Bruichladdich: "Our Octomore .1 editions are distilled from 100% Scottish barley. In recent years they have been primarily aged only in ex-American oak, in varying percentages of different ex-bourbon and ex-Tennessee whiskey casks. They are the backbone of each new series as they demonstrate the raw character of the clean Octomore spirit balanced with the neutral American oak casks." This whisky was peated to 156ppm of phenols, distilled from 100% Scottish grown Concerto barley, harvested in 2011 and distilled in 2012. It was matured entirely on Islay for five years in ex-American whiskey casks, full term in Jim Beam (51%), Jack Daniels (26%), Clermont (15%) and Old Grand-Dad (8%) barrels. Tasted at Julio's Liquors (Westborough MA).
