From Bruichladdich: "Our Octomore .2 editions are distilled from 100% Scottish barley, as per their .1 counterpart. Crucially, they are differentiated by a European oak maturation. Think along the lines of ex-Amarone, ex-Sauternes, ex-Austrian sweet wines and the like. Each edition has a different composition of casks, and the decision lies in the fate of our head distiller." This whisky began with the Octomore 04.2 Comus release peated to 167 ppm phenols and matured 5 years in French dessert wine casks), and was then matured an additional 8 years. Tasted at Octomore Masterclass in Warehouse 12 with Head Distiller Adam Hannett at Bruichladdich Open Day at Feis Ile 2019.
