This is an experimental / concept Octomore release from Bruichladdich. They peated the spirit to 162 ppm of phenols; and then, instead of the traditional double distillation, it was distilled 4 times. This bottle was $240 for 500ml; so the equivalent 750ml price is $360. Because this whisky was so hot, I needed to add a few drops of water- I couldn't drink it uncut straight out of the bottle. It is very unusual- in the glass, it is light in color, yet quite viscous and syrupy, despite not being sweet. For me, the X4+10 is not in the same league as the OBA/C or the Event Horizon. It's an (expensive) experiment. This would be a good whisky at $90 a bottle, but not at $360 for 750ml. Also, straight from the bottle, without any water and without waiting 30 minutes for it to breathe, I scored it an 82 (N22-P21-F22-B17).
