Tasted as Day 11 of The Saratoga Whiskey Club Advent Calendar 2022. Every day is a new adventure with a blind tasting, where we each try to guess the country of origin, the type and age of the whisk(e)y, and the ABV, followed by a reveal at 9PM. This single barrel store pick from Westport Whiskey & Wine (Louisville, KY USA) was from barrel # R170103106, barreled on January 4, 2017. In the blind tasting, because this was very sweet and did not have bold rye notes, it was very difficult for me to determine whether this was a high-rye bourbon or a high-corn rye. But, I guessed correctly that it was a rye. Peerless does not disclose the mash bill for this rye; but, they do say that it is comprised of rye, corn and barley. Photo courtesy of Charles Grabitzky.
