Tasted this as Day 6 of The Saratoga Whiskey Club Advent Calendar 2020. Every day is a new adventure with a blind tasting, where we each try to guess the country of origin, the type and age of the whisk(e)y, the ABV, and the distillery, followed by a reveal at 9PM. From Gordon's: Introducing Gordon's Inaugural Pinhook Single Barrel #2046! These new Gordon's barrel picks will feature bourbons from Pinhook's stock of MGP distillate currently aging at Castle & Key. Like fine wine, Pinhook focuses on vintage specific bourbon and ryes which is a far cry from the traditional "whiskey way". Each expression is the best representation of barrels, and each label is dedicated to a promising young thoroughbred. Our first release of Pinhook's True Single Barrel program is Bourbon Barrel #2046, filled on June 27, 2015, with an entry proof of 120, and aged on the 3rd floor of Warehouse E at Castle & Key. Distilled at MGP, this 5yr Bourbon is 114.5 proof and contains 75% Corn, 20.5% Rye, and 4.5% Malted Barley. Photo courtesy of Charles Grabitzky.
