Tasted this whisky at Rugen Distillery with a tour hosted by our wonderful guide and bartender, Menno. The distillery is located in Interlaken, Switzerland, and has gorgeous views of the Alps. When Switzerland legalized distillation of grains in Switzerland in 1999, Rugen became the first to start making single malt whisky. This whisky was triple distilled in a hybrid pot+column configuration and initially matured in an Oloroso Sherry cask for over 6 years, and then finished in a charred virgin Swiss oak barrel from a tree on the property. The price was $78 for 500 ml. Price shown is scaled up for an equivalent 750 ml bottle.
