Tasted at Saratoga Whiskey Club "Blind January" tasting, where each participant tried to guess the country of origin, grain, ABV and type of barrel used. I feel somewhat misled by the labeling on this bottle of Smoke Wagon. They call this Malted Rye. It is NOT a malted rye. Rather, it is a rye with a highly-unusual mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barely. They use the high malted-barely content to give this whiskey its name. However, I have had several truly malted rye whiskeys, where the rye is actually malted. This is a sourced whiskey from MGP in Indiana and is matured in new charred American Oak barrels.
