I enjoyed this whisky at the Saratoga Whiskey Club Tasting # 68 - Campbeltown. This ridiculously expensive and insanely delicious whisky is part of The Vaults Collection of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. It was distilled in April 1993, matured for 26 year in a refill hogshead. There were 179 bottles in the release. This bottling is exclusive to the American Chapter of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Tasting notes from the SMWS: One sniff opens the curtain to a fanfare of pineapple blasts, then a delicate, sweetly perfumed ballet dancer with candy floss hair leaps and twirls through an exotic garden of jasmine and rose; she is just adorable. On the palate; floral perfumes, citrus oils, tropical fruits, expensive wood and a lick of salt combine in an angelic choir of flavour harmonies – the finish has bittersweet, ice-lolly stick tingles that tease with memories of departed joys. Water is completely unnecessary, but a drop brings out the floral bouquet and candies on the nose and sweetens the taste. PHOTO COURTESY OF THE SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY.
